Thursday's SELAH
Wisdom's Shout!
Sometimes I lie awake at night, and ask, 'Where have I gone wrong?' Then a voice says to me, 'This is going to take more than one night.' ~Charles M. Schulz
Today's Word
Wisdom cries aloud in the street, in the markets she raises her voice; at the head of the noisy streets she cries out; at the entrance of the city gates she speaks: "How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple? How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools hate knowledge? If you turn at my reproof, behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make my words known to you. ~Proverbs 1:20-23
Today's Thought
Ed wandered through the myriad of corridors at the large office building trying to find his way out. At last, he spotted an exit and pushed the handle to go out. Suddenly a warning buzzer screamed in his ear, and he realized that there was a warning sign on this door stating that an alarm would go off when the door opened. As people emerged from their various offices, Ed looked for a way to get away from his embarrassing situation.
Not listening to God's warnings or heeding His Word carries far more serious consequences than a bit of embarrassment. In today's passage, God describes His wisdom as being as obvious as a woman crying out in the streets-nearly impossible to avoid. Yet, many people do just that-ignore God's wisdom and bring destruction to their lives.
We Need To Respond Positively To God's Wisdom.
We can make the right choice and listen to God's message to us. He can speak to us through His Word, through circumstances, or through other believers. Regardless of the source of the message, we need to listen and heed its content. Look for those divine messages that can come at any time. Then, plan to follow that message of wisdom.
Today's Prayer
Father In Heaven; help me to listen to Your wisdom. I don't want to be stupid anymore! I will listen to YOUR WORD. I will listen to Your Holy Spirit. I will listen to My Pastor! I will change my Life through Your Wisdom. In Jesus Name. ~Amen.
