SELAH for this Tuesday

Decide
Winners Make Decisions That Create The Future They Desire; While Whiners Make Decisions That Create The Present They Complain About.
Today's Word
BLESSED (HAPPY, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather. But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night. And he shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity]. ~Psalm 1:1-3
Today's Thought
You're a winner when you decide to be.
No other person must give you permission to be successful. There's no one else to blame when you're not. Your life is exactly what you determine to make of it.
There are others who can help you and point the way. There are those who will attempt to stand in your way, and some who will probably throw you off track without even meaning to do so. Yet ultimately, you must make the decisions and take the actions which bring to your own life fulfillment or lack thereof.
You have the freedom and the responsibility to make the choices and live the commitments which determine how your life proceeds. It is an awesome and sobering reality, while at the same time truly liberating and full of boundless hope.
You are up to the task. You find yourself here, now, in the truly enviable and challenging position of creating a life filled with greatness. Look in grateful amazement at what you have, at what you can do, and make the most of every minute.
Today's Prayer
Father In heaven; Thank You for all the opportunities that You bring into my Life! Grant me the courage and divisiveness to seize the moment. Help me to understand the power of "Taking Responsibility" for my Decisions. Today I will Decide to Make This A Great-Day! In Jesus Name. ~Amen.

SELAH for this Monday

Remain Open to Learning and New Ideas ..By Donald Trump
There is only one thing I know, and that is I know nothing. ~ Socrates
Today's Word
The wise also will hear and increase in learning, and the person of understanding will acquire skill and attain to sound counsel [so that he may be able to steer his course rightly] ~ Proverbs 1:5
Today's Thought
Remain open to new ideas and information. Nobody knows it all and thinking that you do is dumb; it can slam the door on great discoveries and opportunities. If I had started in business thinking that I knew everything, I'd have been finished before I began. Don't make that mistake. Every business has surprises, hidden dangers beneath the surface, and simple problems that become complex.
In my life, I want each day to be full of discoveries, and I frequently wonder what I'll be learning each day. It's a terrific way to start the day. When I learn, it makes me feel great, alive, and excited - it makes me want to learn more. As a result, I'm never bored, which I think is a big reason for my success.
Never think of learning as a burden or a chore. It may require some discipline, but it can be a stimulating and exciting adventure.
To Make It Happen In Your Life . . .
·Become a perpetual student. Gobble up information on many subjects.
·Periodically ask yourself, "What should I learn more about?" Take inventory and study areas in which you may be weak or may wish to investigate. Look into topics that you always avoided or those that are outside your area of expertise. Every day, I try to read newspapers, like the Financial Times, because it's important to my business to know what's going on worldwide, but I also love to read golf magazines.
But Beware . . .
Nothing turns people off more than a person who constantly needs to demonstrate how much he or she knows. Before long, people stop listening, but they never forget when someone is such a bore.
Today's Prayer  (Not by Donald Trump)
Father In Heaven; I want to grow in my Understanding so that I can grow in my Usefulness. I don't need to be Huge, I want to be Helpful. I will study Resources so that I can be Resourceful. Keep me Humble & Hope-Filled. In Jesus Name. ~Amen

2 Tim 1:7 Devotional

VERSE:
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and
of love, and of a sound mind.
-- 2 Timothy 1:7

THOUGHT:
When we became Christians, Jesus gave us the gift of the Holy
Spirit (Acts 2:38; Titus 3:3-7). The Spirit lives in us, making our
bodies a Temple (1 Cor. 6:19-20) and blessing us in many ways
(Romans 8). We can be courageous people even in the face of attack,
criticism, and ridicule because of the Spirit's presence. The fruit
that the Spirit produces (Gal. 5:22-23) and the love that the
Spirit pours into our heart (Rom. 5:5) do not make us weak.
Instead, the Spirit's presence is a powerful force to help us
overcome sin (Rom. 8:13) and live self-disciplined lives.

PRAYER:
Father, thank you for the Spirit's constant presence in my life.
Please empower me with even greater courage and strength as I face
the daily challenges in my life. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."
Juan 4:23-24

This was Friday's SELAH from Pastor Mark - Trumbull, CT

  The Power Of Prayer
Today's Word
FIRST OF all, then, I admonish and urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men, For kings and all who are in positions of authority or high responsibility, that [outwardly] we may pass a quiet and undisturbed life [and inwardly] a peaceable one in all godliness and reverence and seriousness in every way. For such [praying] is good and right, and [it is] pleasing and acceptable to God our Savior, ~1 Timothy 2:1-3
Today's Thought
Prayer is meant to be a daily part of our walk with Christ.
How can we have a relationship with Jesus without communication?
Our prayers also confirm our commitment to Jesus and our dedication to serve Him. Even though God is all powerful and all knowing, He has chosen to let us help Him change the world through our prayers. We all can remember stories of how prayer healed or help others. Prayer is both powerful for those who are doing the praying and for those being prayed for. Obviously, those doing the praying are blessed by the closeness of God to them during their supplications.
God's intervention is the explanation for many healings and other phenomena unexplained by science. The most constant, most reliable, most certain effect of prayer however is not on God. It's on us. Prayer transforms us. It gets us out of our self-oriented way of thinking, and into God's way of thinking. It takes the spotlight off us and puts it on others. So, pray, not so much so He can hear us, but so we can hear Him. Prayer is a steady way of bending our will towards God's will.
Pray Continually, Prayers Of Praise And Thanksgiving. God Will Answer!
Today's Prayer
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. Oh Heavenly Father, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; it is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life" -- Saint Frances

Thursday's SELAH

Wisdom's Shout!
Sometimes I lie awake at night, and ask, 'Where have I gone wrong?' Then a voice says to me, 'This is going to take more than one night.' ~Charles M. Schulz
Today's Word
Wisdom cries aloud in the street, in the markets she raises her voice; at the head of the noisy streets she cries out; at the entrance of the city gates she speaks: "How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple? How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools hate knowledge? If you turn at my reproof, behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make my words known to you. ~Proverbs 1:20-23
Today's Thought
Ed wandered through the myriad of corridors at the large office building trying to find his way out. At last, he spotted an exit and pushed the handle to go out. Suddenly a warning buzzer screamed in his ear, and he realized that there was a warning sign on this door stating that an alarm would go off when the door opened. As people emerged from their various offices, Ed looked for a way to get away from his embarrassing situation.
Not listening to God's warnings or heeding His Word carries far more serious consequences than a bit of embarrassment. In today's passage, God describes His wisdom as being as obvious as a woman crying out in the streets-nearly impossible to avoid. Yet, many people do just that-ignore God's wisdom and bring destruction to their lives.
We Need To Respond Positively To God's Wisdom.
We can make the right choice and listen to God's message to us. He can speak to us through His Word, through circumstances, or through other believers. Regardless of the source of the message, we need to listen and heed its content. Look for those divine messages that can come at any time. Then, plan to follow that message of wisdom.
Today's Prayer
Father In Heaven; help me to listen to Your wisdom. I don't want to be stupid anymore! I will listen to YOUR WORD. I will listen to Your Holy Spirit. I will listen to My Pastor! I will change my Life through Your Wisdom. In Jesus Name. ~Amen.

Wednesday's SELAH

Walk This Way, Please.
I would rather walk with God in the dark than go alone in the light. ~Mary Brainard
Today's Word
When Enoch had lived 65 years, he fathered Methuselah. Enoch walked with God after he fathered Methuselah 300 years and had other sons and daughters. Thus all the days of Enoch were 365 years. Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him. ~Genesis 5:21-24
Today's Thought
Enoch was a little-known-about man from the Bible who gives us a wonderful picture of what it means to walk with God day by day.
Psalm 37:23-24 says, "The steps of a man are established by the LORD, when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the LORD upholds his hand." We see such a great example in Enoch of a man whose steps were established by the Lord!
We also see in Enoch a man who walked in agreement with God every day. This is such a great encouragement and challenge for you and me as believers.
To walk with God like Enoch did means to agree with God about how you spend your time. It means agreeing with God about how you spend your money. It also means you agree with God about how you run your business, how you treat your family, and how you support your church!
So let me ask you: Are you in agreement with God in every area of your life?
It's such a wonderful day when you realize that God is leading you... that you can trust in Him... and that He will open doors that you don't have to bash down. This day comes about when you begin to just show up for duty! Think of it like this: 90% of success is just showing up and being faithful.
You know, there are a lot of Christians out there who stress about if they are or aren't growing in their relationship with Christ. Or they worry if they'll become the kind of spouse or parent they need to be. The great thing to remember is that God doesn't want you or me to project ourselves into the future like that. He's called us to walk with Him today... and let tomorrow worry about itself!
So, spend quality time with God today... even if it's just five minutes. Then spend time with Him again tomorrow. (Commit to reading Selah everyday!) Over time, those minutes and hours will add up... and one day you'll look back and see how you've grown as a person and in your relationship with Him!
GOD HAS CALLED YOU TO WALK WITH HIM TODAY--SO LET TOMORROW WORRY ABOUT ITSELF!
Today's Prayer
Father In Heaven; I confess I don't know what to do next. But I Know what to do Now! I will read Your word, I will Pray, I will spend time with You. I will work to KNOW the Guide and worry less about guidance. I will show up! I will Trust You! In Jesus Name. ~Amen.

This is Tuesday's SELAH

Overcome
Each Act Of Obedience Shortens The Distance To Any Miracle You Are Pursuing.
Today's Word
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. ~I John 4:4
Today's Thought
Are you facing a situation today that seems impossible?
Even if you don´t see how things will work out, remember, you are created to overcome.  As a child of the Most High God, the Greater One lives on the inside of you. There are seeds of faith planted in your heart, and the way you activate those seeds is by stepping into Obedience in any area of your life where you are in disobedience. Begin exercising faith and believing what God has declared in spite of present circumstances.
Begin to declare, "God is bigger than this problem. I am created to overcome. I am destined to live in victory because the Greater One lives inside of me."
Friend, when you start speaking like that, all of heaven hears you and gets behind what you are saying. That´s why it´s so important to stir up the fire that God has placed on the inside of you. Don´t just sit back and be passive.
That obstacle may look impossible, but God wouldn´t have allowed it in your life if He didn´t already know that you could overcome it! Quit looking at your difficulties as obstacles that are going to hold you back and start looking at them as opportunities that are going to push you forward into the live of victory He has in store for you!
Today's Prayer
Father in heaven, thank You for Your promise of victory. Fill my heart with Your peace and joy today and help me to stay focused on You. Help me to walk in Obedience so that I can talk Faith with Power & Confidence. In Jesus Name. ~Amen.

This is Monday's SELAH

Possibilities
Stop thinking in terms of limitations and start thinking in terms of possibilities.
Today's Word
For Abraham, human reason for] hope being gone, hoped in faith that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been promised, So [numberless] shall your descendants be. He did not weaken in faith when he considered the [utter] impotence of his own body, which was as good as dead because he was about a hundred years old, or [when he considered] the barrenness of Sarah's [deadened] womb. No unbelief or distrust made him waver (doubtingly question) concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and was empowered by faith as he gave praise and glory to God, Fully satisfied and assured that God was able and mighty to keep His word and to do what He had promised. ~Romans 4:18-21
Today's Thought
You can make a positive difference.
You can move forward from this point on.
It doesn't matter who you are or what you have been or what you have done in the past. Though the past indeed has lingering consequences, we understand the waves of yesterday's disobedience will splash on the shores of today for a season, but those things cannot prevent you from moving forward when you're determined and committed to do so.
Nothing can pull you down when you refuse to let it -- not any other person or group or situation or challenge. People just like you have overcome obstacles that truly would appear insurmountable even to the most optimistic person. People just like you have achieved things no one would have thought possible in their wildest dreams.
There are an infinite number of directions in which you can journey from where you are right now. Some will certainly be more challenging, and yet those will also be much more fulfilling. The choice of direction is entirely up to you. So envision your ideal future and then set out to make it happen.
Today's Prayer
Father In Heaven; Forgive me for Doubting. Forgive me for Small-Thinking. Forgive me for being Focused on My failures instead of Your Forgiveness. I will move forward Today. I will achieve what You need me to DO TODAY! In Jesus Name. ~Amen.

Friday's SELAH - P a u s e . . .

Living Like A King!
You will never reach the palace talking like a peasant.
Today's Word
And the free gift is not like the result of that one man's sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification. For if, because of one man's trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ. Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. ~Romans 5:16-18
Today's Thought
Do you know you can live like a king in this world? I know it may be hard to imagine when you look around at the sin in our world today, but God offers us redemption and grace that allow us to live like kings through Him.
When you read the news or turn on the television, do you feel bombarded by the evil that has engulfed our world? You probably do! Many people are looking for the answers to why this evil exists and how to overcome it... but often in all the wrong places.
You see, we can only find why the human condition is the way it is in God's Word. What happened in the Garden of Eden started the decline of our world. And because of Adam's sin, we all were born into sin and death reigned over us.
Today's "Word" tells us that "the judgment following one trespass" ... Adam's trespass... "brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification. For if, because of one man's trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ."
That's good news, my friend! That's the hope we have! Jesus has made it possible for you to live like a king.
That is the best news you can have in a world filled with sin and death!
If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, you are no longer ruled by death, but instead you can reign in life through Christ our Lord!
YOU CAN REIGN IN LIFE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST!
Today's Prayer
Father In Heaven, help me to Remember & Realize that I am a Child of God! By adoption I have inherited certain privileges and responsibilities. Show me how to walk in the Fullness of that Promise. I want to Reign Today! Not get Rained on. I want to Rule not be Run over. I will walk in Victory, In Jesus Name. ~Amen.
