Today's Thought

A man and his dog are in the same car. The dog howls bright-moon-in-the-middle-of-the-night caterwauling howls. The man pleads, promising a daily delivery of dog biscuit bouquets if only the hound will hush. After all, it's only a car wash.

Never occurred to him--ahem, to me--that the car wash would scare my dog. But it did. Placing myself in her paws, I can see why. A huge, noisy machine presses toward us, pounding our window with water, banging against the door with brushes. Duck! We're under attack.

"Don't panic. The car wash was my idea." "I've done this before." "It's for our own good." Ever tried to explain a car wash to a canine? Dog dictionaries are minus the words brush and detail job. My words fell on fallen flaps. Nothing helped. She just did what dogs do; she wailed.

Actually, she did what we do. Don't we howl? Not at car washes perhaps but at hospital stays and job transfers. Let the economy go south or the kids move north, and we have a wail of a time. And when our Master explains what's happening, we react as if he's speaking Yalunka. We don't understand a word he says.

Is your world wet and wild?

The Master who sits behind the wheel thinks differently. God is not surprised. His plan is right on schedule. Christ is still the king.

Some of you doubt it. How can God use cancer or death or divorce? Simple.

He's smarter than we are.

Can you imagine the difference between the wisdom of a human and the wisdom of God? What is impossible to us is (simple) to him."For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts" ~Isaiah  55:9

I keep taking Molly to the car wash. She's howling less. I don't think she understands the machinery. She's just learning to trust her master. Maybe we'll learn the same.

Today's Prayer

Father In Heaven, Forgive me for those moments in life when I Panic instead of Pray! When I Worry instead of Worship! When I Run instead of Repent! Help me to Learn to Trust You. To Depend on You. Help me to see that what appears to be Problem for me is just part of the Divine Process. Thank You Master for going through the Car Washes of Life with me!! ~Amen.

1. Time Is Precious, Don't Waste It!                                                             

After my husband died I was staying with friends. One evening they started arguing and eventually stopped speaking. I know arguments happen. My husband and I had several 'doozies.' But at that moment I understood like never before that the time we have together is precious. Don't waste it bickering about things that won't matter when your loved one's gone. Do everything you can to live in harmony and show your love. Why? Because no matter how long you have together, it's never enough.

2. You're Making Memories So Make Them Good Ones!                       

Looking back I thank God for so many unforgettable moments. The day my husband died we kissed (as we always did when we parted) at noon. By 5.30 PM he was dead. I've always been glad about that final kiss. Create memories - not regrets!

Every day holds new challenges that'll test your love and resolve. You have the power through Christ to make each test an occasion for growth. Life's full of seemingly unpleasant events. Father In Heaven, THANK YOU for MY LIFE!! Teach me to apply these lessons and live the life You Planned. I WILL TREASURE TODAY!! I am Blessed. Help me pass along these principals and Bless somebody else. In Jesus Name. ~Amen.

Who has been Praying It?

People who are tired of settling for less and want to do more for God.

People who've discovered that they can exchange their lack for His provision.

People who've come to understand that certain blessings are only given, when you ask for them.

People who realize that God's blessings bring supernatural favor that affects every aspect of their lives.

People who make their wants subservient to His plans.

People who believe that God will decide what their blessings should be, when they're qualified to handle them and how they should receive them.

People who believe that when you pray for what God desires, the unhindered forces of heaven begin to accomplish His purposes through you!

James says, "You Do Not Have, Because You Do Not Ask" (James 4:2). If you don't ask, you won't get all you're supposed to have; you'll actually forfeit those blessings that come only when you do.

God describes Himself as "Abundant In Goodness" (Exodus 34:6).

If you're used to thinking of Him any other way - change the way you think!

Somehow Jabez discovered that it was God's nature, God's will and God's desire, to bless Him. So he asked, and his life was changed. Make a life-long commitment right now to ask God to bless you every day - and to bless you a lot (that's what "enlarge" means).

Be careful! Success can dull your sense of dependence, and make you presumptuous.

It can give you a wrong (and dangerous) view of your own strength.

That's why Jabez prayed, "Lord, when I'm successful, keep me from harm." One fourth of The Lord's Prayer is asking for protection. David and Solomon didn't get into trouble, until they became kings. Wise up!

Someone said, "Danger is not being on the edge of the precipice, it's being unwatchful there." Too many of us 'blow it' because we think we're immune to the pitfalls that claim others. You're no match for the devil! He approached Adam and Eve at the peak of their performance and crushed them with one conversation. Stay out of places you shouldn't be! Watch for things that feed your carnal nature! Refuse to walk with those who are not going God's way!

Bruce Wilkinson tells of a Roman Gladiator in big trouble. Somehow he's dropped his sword and the enraged lion, seeing its opportunity, is in mid-lunge, jaws wide open. In horror the Gladiator tries to flee. The caption reads, "Sometimes you can't afford to come in second!"

The best strategy for defeating a roaring lion is to stay out of the arena. That's why Jabez's final request in prayer was, "Lord, keep me from harm."

You need to pray that prayer today too.
