SELAH for Monday from Pastor Mark

  Start With Gratitude
Your Memory Re-plays Your Past. Your Imagination Pre-plays Your Future.
Today's Word
For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them]. ~Philippians 4:8
Today's Thought
Make gratitude your first response and it will soon become an empowering perspective from which you can achieve great things. Rather than looking for something to criticize, look for things to genuinely praise. Make the most positive qualities the first things you notice in people, in your surroundings, and in the situations which come along.
There are positive sides and negative sides to everything. The negative aspects will have little trouble asserting themselves. They need no help from you. Don't overlook them, but don't give your energy to them either.
Put your focus on finding a reason for gratitude. It's there, no matter what. From that you can build and grow, move ahead and prosper. Make it a habit on a moment by moment basis. Ingrain it in your very being. Let it become second nature to you to seek the positive and you will indeed find it. It's an approach which will bring delightful substance to your relationships and powerful effectiveness to your pursuits.
Lead with gratitude and you'll truly be even more grateful for the richness of living which most certainly will follow.
Today's Prayer
Father In Heaven; Empower me to make the lessons of "Thanksgiving" life principals instead of just an annual holiday! Let this week be the start to a NEW Positive me! Teach me to not give my focus or energy to negative things. Keep me focused on the bright & the right. In Jesus Name. ~Amen

  Obeying For A Blessing
Today's Word
Oh, that they had such a [mind and] heart in them always [reverently] to fear Me and keep all My commandments, that it might go well with them and with their children forever! ~Deuteronomy 5:29
Today's Thought
When God tells you to do certain things, He's not trying to put you in a straight jacket or rain on your parade. No, He's just setting you up for a blessing! Think about that for a moment. On the other end of anything He asks you to do, you'll hear the words, "that it might be well with you."
Living in peace, instead of always going to pieces, is easier, once you learn to listen to God and respond immediately. Don't hesitate. Don't negotiate. Don't rationalize. And whatever you do don't run, for the only thing that's worse than running from obedience is running smack-dab into the consequences of disobedience. Ask Jonah!
Listen, "To obey is better than sacrifice" (1 Samuel 15:22). Sometimes you'll have to sacrifice certain things in order to obey God. But it's better to sacrifice them than to ignore the promptings of His Spirit, forfeit His blessings, and live stressed out.
God will sometimes require things of you that:
1. He doesn't seem to require of others.
2. He won't explain, and you can't understand.
3. When you've obeyed, you won't see any immediate benefits.
But if you're convinced that He has a unique plan for your life, and that He loves you unconditionally, you'll abandon yourself to Him in trust, knowing that in the end "it will be well with you."
Today's Prayer
Father In Heaven; I won't Hesitate, I won't Negotiate, I won't Debate.. I will Obey. I choose to believe that You have a Plan for me and mine. In Jesus Name. ~Amen.

Pastor Mark's SELAH - Happy Thanksgiving 2009

  Thanksgiving
Today is the day we traditionally pause to take stock of our blessings, to remember and give thanks.
The first Americans to celebrate Thanksgiving were primarily thankful for their survival. They were pioneers in a new world and were daily faced with the harsh realities of life without any of the comforts of civilization.
Today, most of us are fairly confident of our survival from day to day. Our material "blessings" are more abundant, in both quality and quantity, than those of the original Thanksgiving participants. Survival is no longer a big concern for most of us -- we are, thankfully, fairly confident that there will be a meal on the table tomorrow, and the next day.
Remember to pause and thank God for His Provision & Plan.....They have brought you to Where you are, and made you Who you are!
There's one blessing, though, that hasn't changed much in hundreds of years. And that is the blessing of community. All the other people in our lives. Life would be pretty meaningless without them. We could have all the material luxuries in the world, and most of them would be worthless without anyone to enjoy them with.
It is the members of our community that give life its variety and character. We all depend on each other for creating the stuff of life. Think of all the people whose efforts go into everything you have, everything that entertains you, everything that sustains you physically, and everything that comforts you...
Without each other, none of us would be "Who" we are.
So when you Give Thanks Today, let's not forget to be Thankful for each other.
For Family...For Friends....For a Church Family...For Your Community...
Our community, no matter how it is defined, gives us each the power and support to be the best that we can be.
So find someone in "your" commune today and just walk up and HUG THEM..
From Deb & I
HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

  Un-Thanked People?
Feeling Gratitude And Not Expressing It Is Like Wrapping A Present And Not Giving It. ~William Arthur Ward
Today's Word
I thank my God every time I remember you. ~Philippians 1:3
Today's Thought
When Rev. William Stidger taught at a well-known university, he once reflected upon the great number of un-thanked people in his life; those who helped nurture him, inspire him, or who cared enough to leave a lasting impression on him. One was a school teacher he'd not heard of in many years, but he remembered that she'd gone out of her way to instill a love of poems in him. As a result, Stidger had loved poetry all his life. So he wrote her a letter of thanks.
The reply he received, written in the feeble scrawl of the aged, began, "My Dear Willie." He was delighted. He was now over 50, bald and a professor. He didn't think there was a person left on the planet who would call him "Willie" ... I cannot tell you how much your note meant to me. I'm in my eighties, living alone in a small room, cooking my own meals, lonely, and like the last leaf of autumn, lingering behind. You will be interested to know that I taught school for 50 years, and yours is the first note of appreciation I ever received. It came on a blue-cold morning and cheered me as nothing has in many years." Not prone to cry easily, Stidger wept over that note.
She was one of the great un-thanked people from his past. You know them - we all do. Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless....... Got any un-thanked people?
Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.
Today's Prayer
Father In Heaven; Kindle in me a heart of gratitude for those who have touched my life, and taught me valuable life lessons. At this season of Thanksgiving, lead me to someone who has been Un-Thanked and allow me to shower them with Thanks! Silent gratitude isn't much use to anyone, so Use me to be a Grateful Giver. In Jesus Name. ~Amen.

  Timing
I am definitely going to take a course on time management... just as soon as I can work it into my schedule. ~Louis E. Boone
Today's Word
But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides. ~Matthew 6:33
Today's Thought
The time is never perfect, yet the time is always right. If you're waiting for the perfect time to take action, a time when all conditions will be ideal, a time when your prospects for success are guaranteed, that time will never come. Circumstances are never perfect. There are always plenty of reasons not to act.
Yet, if anything is going to get done, it must be undertaken in less than perfect circumstances. When you accept that there will never be a perfect time, then the time is always right. Circumstances, whatever they are, will work for you, when you go to work in spite of them.
The unfavorable conditions, such as they are, are things that can be overcome. Right now is not perfect, but it's what you have to work with. You either use it, or you lose it forever. Now is not the perfect time, but it is the right time to begin reaching for your goals. Do it now, or regret it later.
Today's Prayer
Father In Heaven; Forgive me for looking at circumstances instead of You! Help me Today To Step Out In Faith. To Claim the Promise of Your Provision & Protection. I will Put Your Kingdome First and Trust You for the rest. In Jesus name. ~Amen.

REVELATION 15

Prelude to the Bowl Judgments

1Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous: seven angels having the seven last plagues, for in them the wrath of God is complete.

2And I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire, and those who have the victory over the beast, over his image and over his mark and over the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God. 3They sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying:

"Great and marvelous are Your works,

Lord God Almighty!

Just and true are Your ways,

O King of the saints!

4Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name?

For You alone are holy.

For all nations shall come and worship before You,

For Your judgments have been manifested."

5After these things I looked, and behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened.

6And out of the temple came the seven angels having the seven plagues, clothed in pure bright linen, and having their chests girded with golden bands.

7Then one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God who lives forever and ever.

8The temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from His power, and no one was able to enter the temple till the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.

 GOD'S WORSHIPPERS
Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."
Juan 4:23-24

Thinking for Change from Pastor Mark- SELAH

  Know Your Audience
Those Who Ask The Questions Determine The Quality Of The Conversation.
Today's Word
The tongue of the wise utters knowledge rightly, but the mouth of the [self-confident] fool pours out folly. ~Proverbs 15:2
Today's Thought     by Donald Trump
I've heard stories about people who landed terrific jobs, not just because of their qualifications, but also because of common interests they had with the people hiring them. Granted, the applicant had to have the credentials to begin with, but lots of people do.
I once heard about a top law firm that hired a young lawyer because, in addition to excelling in law school, he held a master's degree in music. His music degree was the deciding factor because the partner who interviewed him also happened to be a musicologist and knew how much discipline it took to earn a music degree. The fact that they were both devoted to music provided them with a common bond that could help them work well together.
So know who you're talking to and where he or she is coming from. Whether you're involved in negotiations, war, public speaking, or merely socializing, learn about the person across from you and find out what he or she wants so that you can build a better relationship.
Frequently, people are so involved in trying to get what they want that they don't think of anyone other than themselves. They're so overcome with the brilliance of their idea that they ignore other people's needs and objectives and don't successfully connect.
At every level, relationships are built on listening, connections, common interests, and experiences. It is essential to be able to read your audience, whether that audience consists of a couple of people in your office or 40,000 in an amphitheater listening to you speak. The challenge is to find common ground.
For example, I was once involved in a very difficult negotiation and found myself disliking my adversary. My feelings placed a wall between us; my dislike made our dealings strained and unproductive. Our deal was on the verge of collapsing, when I discovered that my adversary was an avid golfer like myself. When we began our next session, I mentioned that I had heard he was a golfer. We started talking about golf, which eased the tension. When we resumed our business, we were more at ease, communicated more easily, and closed the deal.
Today's Prayer      Not by Donald Trump
Father In heaven, Help me to not be so consumed with my own agenda that I can hear no one else! Teach me to Listen to Others & to You! Remind me to consider others and remember there was a reason You gave me 2 ears and 1 mouth. ~Amen

  The Art Of War 2
Daring ideas are like chessmen moved forward. They may be beaten, but they may start a winning game. ~Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Today's Word
This is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. ~1 John 5:4
Today's Thought
Adversity is just the enemy's attempt to rob you of the next season of blessing in your life. If you're still under attack, do these three things:
1. Fight back! You'll be tempted to withdraw or become timid and passive, especially if you've been hurt. Don't! A wounded animal only attracts attack. Satan loves shy fearful types, but real fighters intimidate him. So be bold. "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:7).
2. Use your weapons! Paul said, "The weapons of our warfare are... mighty" (2 Corinthians 10:4). Prayer is a weapon, use it daily! Join hands with others. One can't multiply. Increase begins with two (Matthew 18:19). Be sure you know the intercessors in your life. The Word is also a weapon - use it. Listen, "Take... the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God" (Ephesians 6:17). Find out what God says about your situation, and use it as a sword to cut your enemy's head off.
3. See the big picture! Nothing is ever as it first appears. Look beyond the moment. Something great is being formed in you. After adversity comes blessing and favor, so get your eyes back on the big picture. Paul says, "This short time of distress will result in God's richest blessing" (2 Corinthians 4:17).
Now go out and win!
Winning starts with beginning.
Today's Prayer
Father In Heaven; Make me strong Today! I do not want to lose or turn and run. I want to be a Hero for Your Kingdom. For my family. I will stand on Your Word and I will Pray and I will see the Victory You have planned for me and my family. In Jesus name. ~Amen.

Pastor Mark's SELAH for Thursday

  The Art Of War
Anything Good Is Hated By Everything Evil.
Today's Word
When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against Him. ~Isaiah 59:19
Today's Thought
Your biggest mistakes will usually happen during the first few moments of any attack. Surprise is the enemy's great strategy. If you're under attack today, here are four things you need to know.
First, don't panic! Listen, "Be still, and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10). That means He's present... He's in charge... and He has a solution! Stop and listen carefully to the inner voice of His Spirit (John 16:13). Time is your friend. Patience is the weapon that always forces motives to the surface.
Second, analyze it! Solomon said, "In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider... (Ecclesiastes 7:14). A crisis is merely concentrated information. Take the time to analyze it, and you'll benefit from it.
Third, seek worthy counsel! Listen, "Where no counsel is, the people fall" (Proverbs 11:14). Ignorance can be deadly. Don't risk it! Somebody knows something you need to know; something that can help you survive and even succeed in the most painful chapter of your life. Reach for them!
Fourth, expect God to move! Listen, "When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him" (Isaiah 59:19). Adversity is just the enemy's reaction to your progress. Rejoice. The eyes of your Father are upon you. He's going to bring you through victoriously!
Today's Prayer
Father In Heaven; Help me to LEARN these lessons so that I can be a faithful solider in Your army. I know I can be, and will be Victorious through Christ. ~Amen.

Others
What men and women need is encouragement. ... Instead of always harping on a man's faults, tell him of his virtues. Try to pull him out of his rut of bad habits. ~Eleanor H. Porter
Today'sWord
Love... always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. ~1 Corinthians 13:6-8
Today's Thought
When you meet somebody today who needs encouragement, go ahead and give it to them - for more people die of broken hearts than swelled heads. Recently, I heard about a little boy who was playing with his father. He said, "Come on dad, let's play catch. I'll throw, and you shout Great Job!" You may smile, but we tend to become what the most important people in our lives think of us. So think the best, believe the best, and express the best toward them - for your words will help to shape their destiny.
Remember, change takes time! Even though change seems simple, it's rarely ever easy. The only way we can break old habits is to form new ones - and that takes time; lots of it! You can't tell people something once and expect them to do it. They've got to hear it over and over again before they can make the adjustment.
Be persistent! Never give up trying to help them improve! Express gratitude for every inch of progress they make. Flying off the handle doesn't help one bit. The only way to get lasting results is through patience and persistence. Remember, "Love.. always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.. (1 Corinthians 13:7-8).
Ask God to give you that kind of love today.
Today's Prayer
Father In Heaven; Use me Today to be an Encouragement to someone. Help me to show patience and persistence with those people who You are allowing me to influence. Fill me with Your Love, because I know "That" never fails. ~Amen.
